Kum bag
Kum is a medium-sized, structured tote bag made of tapestry fabric. The bag is stiffened with felt and has firm faux leather handles. There are two faux leather straps with chains, threaded through the grommets at the base of the handles. The top edge is finished with grosgrain ribbon. The fully lined interior of the bag features one zipper pocket, two patch pockets, one umbrella pocket and one key clasp holder. The bag is completed with a felt organizer with patch pockets on the inside and outside. The bag fastens with a magnetic snap.
Approximate sewing time — 1.5 days (12 hours).
To sew this bag, choose heavyweight, structured and non-stretch fabrics.
The following fabrics are recommended: tapestry fabric, denim, faux leather, faux suede, natural leather, natural suede.
As a stiffening material, you can use synthetic felt, wool felt or felt cloth — non-fraying, non-woven material made of natural or synthetic fibers.
For the lining, choose pocketing fabric that includes natural (cotton) or synthetic (polyester) fibers.
The bag in the photo is made of tapestry fabric. The fabric is medium weight, structured, non-stretch and water-repellent. The fiber content is 80% cotton and 20% polyester. The fabric weight is 500 g/m2.
The organizer is made of felt. The fabric is stiff and structured. The fiber content is 100% polyester. The fabric weight is 300 g/m2.
The lining is 100% cotton, 100 g/m2.

4. Paper-backed fusible web tape, 1 cm (3/8") wide — 3 m (3 1/4 yd)
5. Double-sided adhesive tape, 1 cm (3/8”) wide — 1 m (1 1/8 yd)
6. Stiffener (felt), 250–350 g/m 2, 1 mm thick and 100 cm (39'') wide — 1 m (1 1/8 yd)
7. Stiffener (leatherboard), 1 mm thick and 50 cm (20") wide — 2 cm (3/4'')
8. One magnetic snap with prongs, 1.5 cm (5/8") in diameter
9. Grosgrain ribbon, 2.5 cm (1") wide — 1.6 m (1 3/4 yd)
10. Decorative chain with a link width up to 1.2 cm (1/2'') — 1.05 m (1 1/8 yd)
11. Four metal rings, 1.2 cm (1/2”) in diameter
12. Four grommets, 1.4 cm (1/2”) in diameter
13. Four toggle T-bars, 3 cm (1 1/8'') wide
14. One swivel lobster clasp with a ring, 1.5 cm (5/8") in diameter
15. One closed bottom zipper, 25 cm (9 7/8”) long, for the pocket
16. Matching thread for the main fabric — 1 spool
