Cindy is a high-waisted lined dress. The waist seam sits above the natural waistline. The back bodice is shaped with waist darts. Sizes 36, 38, and 40 in heights 146, 152, and 158 also include bust darts. The dress has a round neckline at the front and a V-neckline at the back. The short puffed set-in sleeves are pleated and gathered at the cap and hem. There is an elastic casing at the bottom of the sleeve. The full skirt is pleated and gathered at the waist. The dress closes with an invisible center back zipper. Cindy is above-knee length.

Approximate sewing time – 20 hours.

Model Lilya. Height 129cm (51”), Chest 61cm (24”), Waist 53cm (21”), Hips 69cm (27”). Lilya is wearing size 30 in height 128 (the skirt was shortened).

Model Sonya. Height 129cm (51”), Chest 65cm (25 1/2”), Waist 54cm (21 1/2”), Hips 72cm (28 1/2”). Sonya is wearing size 32 in height 128.

To sew this dress, choose blouse- and dress-weight woven fabrics with the following properties:

- thin, smooth, stable, lightweight, structured, non-stretch, semi-sheer or sheer (for the skirt and sleeves);

- heavyweight, structured, low-stretch (for the front and back bodice);

- the fiber content can include natural fibers (silk), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (silk + polyester, polyester + viscose, etc.), and synthetics (polyester).

The following fabrics are recommended:

- organza, crystal organza – for the skirt and sleeves;

- heavyweight satin, such as duchess satin and satin coutil (corsetry satin), velvet – for the front and back bodice.

Attention! We do not recommend very stretchy knit materials (jersey fabrics), or soft, drapey fabrics (chiffon, stretch lace).

For the lining, use lining fabrics made of artificial fibers (viscose), blends (viscose + elastane, viscose + polyester), or synthetics (polyester, polyester + elastane).

The garment in the photos is made of duchess satin and organza. The organza is thin, lightweight, structured, non-stretch. The fiber content is 100% polyester. The duchess satin is heavyweight, structured, non-stretch. The fiber content is 100% polyester.

The lining is 100% viscose.

3. Lightweight fusible interfacing, knit or woven, 140cm (55”) wide, for all sizes and heights – 0.35m (3/8yd).

4. Straight-grain fusible stay tape to interface the front and back bodice edges – 1–3m (1 1/8–3 1/4yd), depending on the height and size (measure the pattern pieces to find the exact length).

5. One invisible zipper, 50cm (20”) long, for all sizes and heights.

7. Matching thread – 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker).

- sewing machine for construction;

- overlocker for finishing seam allowances. It can be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3mm, stitch length 2.5mm);

- edgestitch foot for the sewing machine (optional);

- invisible zipper foot for the sewing machine;

- bodkin / elastic threader (can be replaced with a safety pin);

- bias tape maker.
