Olaf sleepsuit
Olaf is a semi-fitted, hooded sleepsuit. The garment has two zippers transitioning into side seams at the front and an elasticated casing sewn on along the waistline at the back. The long raglan sleeves are finished with cuffs. There is a gusset at the crotch and elastic stitched above the covered feet at the back. The fully lined hood with decorative ears and a wrap-over elasticated front closes with open-ring snaps.
Approximate sewing time — 1 day (8 hours).
To sew this sleepsuit, choose knit fabrics with the following properties:
- medium weight, soft, breathable, low-stretch
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (cotton + polyester, cotton + elastane, etc.)
- the following fabrics are recommended: French terry, sweatshirt fleece, jersey knits, rib knits.
The sleepsuit in the photo is made of sweatshirt fleece. The fabric is soft, stable, with very little stretch. The fiber content is 97% cotton and 3% polyester. The fabric weight is 300 g/m2.
The hood is lined with jersey knit. The fabric is soft and stretchy. The fiber content is 97% cotton and 3% elastane. The fabric weight is 300 g/m2.
The cuffs are made of ribbing. The fabric is soft and stretchy. The fiber content is 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The fabric weight is 230 g/m2.

- overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- press tool for installing snaps
Important! For knit projects, we recommend using special sewing needles for stretchy knit fabrics (e.g. STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). When sewing, a ball-shaped needle point pushes the knit loops apart without piercing the threads.
