Woody bodysuit
Woody is a semi-fitted bodysuit. The round neckline is finished with binding cut out of the main fabric. The garment is designed with two sleeve length options and a ruffle from the main fabric as an optional design detail. The bodysuit fastens with no-sew snaps at the bottom.
Approximate sewing time — 1/2 day (4 hours).
To sew this bodysuit, choose knit fabrics with the following properties:
- medium weight, soft, breathable, low-stretch
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (cotton + polyester, cotton + elastane, etc.)
- the following fabrics are recommended: French terry, jersey knits, interlock knits.
The bodysuit in the photo is made of interlock knit fabric. The fabric is soft and has very little stretch. The fiber content is 100% cotton. The fabric weight is 250 g/m2.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
2. Elastic, 7 mm (just over 1/4") wide — 9.7–15.2 cm (3 7/8–6"), depending on the size. The exact elastic length is specified on the pattern pieces.
3. Three open-ring snaps for knits, 1 cm (3/8”) in diameter
4. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker)
- overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- sewing machine
- coverstitch or coverlock machine for finishing the neckline, bottom edge and sleeve hems. It can be replaced with a twin needle on a regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch
- press tool for installing snaps
Important! For knit projects, we recommend using special sewing needles for stretchy knit fabrics (e.g. STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). When sewing, a ball-shaped needle point pushes the knit loops apart without piercing the threads.
