Galatea dress
Galatea is a close-fitting corset-style dress with a waist seam and separate bust cups made of bra foam. The silhouette is shaped with front and back princess seams reinforced with rigilene boning. The back features a slit and an invisible zipper in the center seam. Galatea has a free-hanging lining and is above-ankle length.
Model Sherry: Height 173 cm (5’8”), Bust 84 cm (33 1/8”), Waist 62 cm (24 3/8”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Sherry is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Approximate sewing time — 2 days (16 hours).
To sew this dress, choose medium-weight, soft, non-stretch or low-stretch dress-weight or suiting fabrics made of natural, artificial, synthetic fibers, or blends.
The following fabrics are recommended: viscose suiting, dress-weight wool, gabardine, dress-weight denim.
Attention! We do not recommend stretchy knit fabrics and lightweight sheer fabrics (chiffon, organza, stretch lace).
The dress in the photos is made of viscose suiting. The fabric is medium weight, soft, and low-stretch. The fiber content is a blend of 75% polyester and 25% viscose. The fabric weight is 410 g/m2.
The fiber content of the lining is a blend of 95% viscose and 5% elastane. The fabric weight is 130 g/m2.

6. One pair of bra underwires (in the necessary size)
7. Stitched bias-cut fusible stay tape with stitch reinforcement, 1.5 cm (5/8") wide — 3.8 m (4 1/8 yd)
8. Stitched straight-grain fusible stay tape, 1.5 cm (5/8") wide — 1.55 m (1 3/4 yd)
9. One invisible zipper, 50 cm (19 5/8”) long, for all sizes in all heights
10. Matching thread — 4 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 3 spools for the overlocker)
- sewing machine for construction
- overlocker for finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- one-sided foot for the sewing machine to attach the zipper
