Imelda dress
Imelda is a semi-fitted dress with an accentuated waist and a skirt that flares out towards the bottom. The dress is fitted with front and back princess seams. The front features a faux button placket created with a pleat at the center front. The dress has a deep square neckline and fastens with an invisible zipper in the center back seam. The full set-in sleeves gathered at the sleeve cap and bottom are below-elbow length. The hems of the sleeves are finished with binding. Imelda is midi length.
Approximate sewing time — 1.5 days (12 hours).
Model Varvara: Height 174 cm (5’8”), Bust 86 cm (33 7/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 92 cm (36 1/4”). Varvara is wearing size 36 in height 3.
To sew this dress, choose dress-weight fabrics with the following properties:
- medium weight, pliable, opaque, with a little elastane
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (cotton, linen), blends (cotton + polyester, cotton + elastane, etc.), and synthetics (polyester, polyester + elastane)
- the following fabrics are recommended: linen, heavyweight cotton, nettle.
Attention! We do not recommend lightweight, sheer fabrics.
The dress in the photo is made of natural fabric. The fabric is medium weight, pliable, and low-stretch. The fiber content is 50% nettle and 50% cotton. The fabric weight is 210 g/m2.

6. Straight-grain fusible stay tape, for all sizes in all heights — 1.11 m (1 1/4 yd)
7. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker)
- sewing machine for construction
- overlocker for finishing raw edges. It can be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- invisible zipper foot for the sewing machine
