Iris is a dress with a close-fitting bodice and a voluminous skirt. It features a shaped empire waist seam. The center part of the back bodice is shirred. The dress has adjustable spaghetti straps. There is a flounce at the bottom of the skirt. Iris is below mid-calf length.
Model Sofia: Height 172 cm (5'8"), Bust 84 cm (33 1/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Sofia is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Model Yana: Height 174 cm (5’8”), Bust 107 cm (42 1/8”), Waist 87 cm (34 1/4”), Hips 122 cm (48”). For Yana we combined sizes 48 for the top and 52 for the bottom in height 3.
Approximate sewing time: 1 day (8 hours).
To sew this garment, choose dress-weight fabrics with the following properties:
- medium-weight, pliable, structured, non-stretch or with very little stretch, opaque
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (cotton, linen), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (cotton + elastane, linen + silk, cotton + viscose, etc.)
- the following fabrics are recommended: dress-weight viscose, linen, poplin, sateen, silk, cotton shirting, dress-weight denim, challis.
Attention! We do not recommend stretchy knit fabrics and lightweight sheer fabrics (chiffon, organza, stretch lace).
The dress in the photo is made of shirting fabric. The fabric is thin, light to medium weight, opaque, and does not crease easily. The fabric content is a blend of cotton (40%) and polyester (60%).

3. Lightweight knit or woven interfacing, 140 cm (55") wide, for all sizes in all heights — 0.3 m (3/8 yd).
4. Two strap slide adjusters, 1 cm (3/8") wide.
5. Two strap rings for the ring tab, 1 cm (3/8") in diameter.
6. Elastic thread — 1 spool.
7. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker).

- overlocker for finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- stitch-in-the-ditch foot for the sewing machine (optional)
