Ivian dress
Ivian is a semi-fitted dress with an accentuated waist and a slight flare at the bottom. It features a waist seam and bust darts. The round neckline has a keyhole opening and a button and button loop closure at the back. The bias-cut skirt has waist darts at the back. The set-in sleeves are long and close-fitting. Ivian is below mid-calf length.
Model Varvara: Height 174 cm (5’8”), Bust 86 cm (33 7/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 92 cm (36 1/4”). Varvara is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Approximate sewing time: 1.5 days (10 hours).
To sew this dress, choose dress-weight fabrics with the following properties:
- medium weight, pliable, soft, non-stretch or with very little stretch, opaque
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (silk, cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (cotton + silk, cotton + viscose, etc.), and synthetics (polyester, polyester + elastane)
- the following fabrics are recommended: crepe, dress-weight viscose, natural silk, artificial silk, satin, silk velvet.
Attention! We do not recommend stretchy knit fabrics, heavyweight fabrics (suiting, denim), and lightweight, sheer fabrics (organza, chiffon).
The dress in the photo is made of artificial silk. The fabric is medium weight, pliable, soft, and non-stretch. The fiber content is 100% polyester.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
2. Interfacing, for all sizes and heights — 20 cm (7 7/8").
3. Elastic, 1 cm (3/8") wide — 66–89 cm (26–35"), depending on the size. The exact elastic length is specified on the pattern pieces.
4. One button or button blank, 0.7–1 cm (1/4–3/8") in diameter.
5. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker).

- overlocker for finishing raw edges. It can be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- loop turner.
