Lourdes dress
Lourdes is a close-fitting, lingerie-inspired dress with a boned corset bodice and separate bra cups. The dress is made of two types of fabric. The inner layer is made of mesh, while the overlay is made of tulle and is ruched along all edges. The faux plackets with grommets form the lace-up front. The ruched sleeves are long and narrow. The dress closes with an invisible zipper in the center back seam. Lourdes is below-knee length.
Model Sofia: Height 172 cm (5'8"), Bust 84 cm (33 1/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Sofia is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Approximate sewing time – 3 days (22 hours).
To sew this dress, choose knit fabrics with the following properties:
- medium-weight, pliable, soft, stretchy, sheer
- the fiber content can include artificial fibers (viscose), blends (viscose + polyester, etc.), and synthetics (nylon, polyester, polyester + elastane)
- the following fabrics are recommended: tulle, stretch mesh.
Attention! We do not recommend knit fabrics with a lot of stretch or non-stretch fabrics.
For the inner layer and lining, we recommend using medium-weight, soft, pliable mesh with small holes. Choose fabrics made of synthetic fibers (polyester + elastane).
For the casings, straps, and plackets, choose opaque, medium-weight, soft fabrics without stretch. You can use fabrics made of artificial fibers (viscose), blends (viscose + polyester, etc.), or synthetics (polyester).
The dress in the photos is made of two layers of tulle. The fabric is medium-weight, pliable, soft, stretchy, and opaque. The fiber content is 100% nylon.
The inner layer and lining are made of stretch mesh. The fabric is medium-weight, pliable, soft, and stretchy. The fiber content is 100% polyester.
The casings, straps, and plackets are made of silk satin. The fabric is medium-weight, soft, without stretch. The fiber content is 100% polyester.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
5. Stitched bias-cut fusible stay tape with stitch reinforcement, 1.5 cm (5/8") wide – 1.5 m (1 5/8 yd).
6. One invisible zipper, 50 cm (19 5/8") long, for all sizes and heights.
7. Rigilene boning (synthetic whalebone), 8 mm (just under 3/8") wide – 3 m (3 1/4 yd).
8. One pair of bra cups (in the necessary size).
9. One pair of bra underwires (in the necessary size).
10. Cord, 4 mm (just over 1/8") in diameter – 9 m (9 7/8 yd).
11. Grommets, 5 mm (just under 1/4") in diameter:
- 64 for height 1 (all sizes)
- 68 for height 2 (all sizes)
- 70 for height 3 (all sizes)
- 72 for height 4 (all sizes).
12. Matching thread for the outer layer – 1 spool.
