Luana dress

Luana is a fully lined dress with an accentuated waist. It has a corset-style, close-fitting bodice with front and back princess seams reinforced with boning. The semi-fitted skirt is flared from the waist down thanks to triangular panels in the princess seams. The dress has a deep square neckline and closes with an invisible zipper in the center back seam. All the princess and panel seams feature decorative topstitching. Luana is above-knee length.

Model Sofia: Height 171 cm (5'7"), Bust 81 cm (31 7/8"), Waist 60 cm (23 5/8"), Hips 88 cm (34 5/8"). Sofia is wearing size 34 in height 3.

Approximate sewing time – 2 days (16 hours).

To sew this dress, choose dress-weight fabrics with the following properties:

- medium weight, structured, opaque and non-stretch

- the fabric content can include natural fibers (silk, cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (silk + polyester, cotton + viscose, etc.), and synthetics (polyester)

- the following fabrics are recommended: matte satin (Peau de Soie), taffeta, jacquard.

Attention! We do not recommend lightweight, soft, stretchy fabrics (chiffon, organza, stretch lace).

For the lining, we recommend lining fabrics made of artificial fibers (viscose), blends (viscose + polyester), and synthetics (polyester).

The dress in the photo is made of matte satin (Peau de Soie). The fabric is medium weight, structured and non-stretch. The fiber content is 100% polyester. The fabric weight is 170 g/m2.

The lining is 100% viscose, 50 g/m2.

IMPORTANT!  When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.

3. Stitched bias-cut fusible stay tape with stitch reinforcement, 1.5 cm (5/8”) wide — 3.5 m (3 7/8 yd).

4. One invisible zipper, 55 cm (21 5/8”) long, for all sizes in all heights.

5. Rigilene boning, 8 mm (just under 3/8") wide — 2.5 m (2 3/4 yd).

6. Matching thread — 1 spool.

7. Matching topstitching thread (for example, Madeira No. 40) — 1 spool.

- sewing machine for construction

- stitch-in-the-ditch foot for the sewing machine (optional)

- invisible zipper foot for the sewing machine

- lighter or matches for melting the rigilene boning.
