Mavia is a straight-cut, loose-fitting dress. The round neckline is finished with a neckband. The dress has semi-fitted tapered raglan sleeves. Mavia is ankle-length.
Approximate sewing time – 1/2 day (4 hours)
Model Sofia: Height 172 cm (5'8"), Bust 84 cm (33 1/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Sofia is wearing size XS-S in height 3.
To sew this dress, choose knit fabrics with the following properties:
- soft, medium-weight, low-stretch or medium-stretch
- the fiber content should include elastane or spandex and can also include natural fibers (wool, cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (wool + polyester, cotton + polyester, cotton + elastane, etc.), and synthetics (polyester, polyester + elastane)
- the following fabrics are recommended: sweater knits, rib knits.
Attention! We recommend using only stretchy fabrics for this dress.
The dress in the photos is made of sweater knit. The fabric is medium-weight, pliable, soft, medium-stretch.
The fiber content is a blend of 10% viscose, 80% acrylic, and 10% spandex. The fabric weight is 340 g/m2.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
2. Clear elastic, 1 cm (3/8") wide, for all sizes and heights – 1 m (1 1/8 yd).
3. Matching thread – 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker).
- sewing machine for construction
- overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. It can be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- coverstitch or coverlock machine for finishing the garment hem and sleeve hems. If you don’t have a coverstitch machine, you can replace it with a twin needle on any regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch.
Important! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These are ballpoint needles, so they part the threads of the fabric you are stitching rather than piercing them.
