Сassandra dress
Cassandra is a close-fitting, lined evening dress that flares toward the bottom. The front and back are fitted with princess seams. The dress has a plunging front V-neckline that is trimmed with lace, features a sheer panel and reaches the waistline. There is a deep, shaped cutout on the back. The close-fitting set-in sleeves are long, flared toward the bottom, and consist of panels joined by vertical seams. The sleeve hem is trimmed with lace. The dress closes with an invisible zipper in the center back seam and a button and rouleau loop at the back neckline. The dress is floor-length at the front, with a long train at the back.
Approximate sewing time – 3 days (24 hours).
Model Varvara: Height 174 cm (5’8”), Bust 86 cm (33 7/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 92 cm (36 1/4”). Varvara is wearing size 36 in height 3.
To sew this dress, choose dress-weight fabrics with the following properties:
- medium weight, pliable, soft, low-stretch, opaque
- the fiber content can include natural fibers (silk, cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (viscose + silk, viscose + polyester, cotton + viscose, etc.), and synthetics (polyester, polyester + elastane)
- the following fabrics are recommended: natural silk, artificial silk, crepe back satin, satin.
Attention! We do not recommend stretchy knit materials or structured fabrics.
For the lining, choose lining fabrics made of artificial fibers (viscose), blends (viscose + elastane, viscose + polyester), or synthetics (polyester, polyester + elastane).
As an additional fabric for the front inset, we recommend using lightweight, sheer, stretchy materials, such as tulle.
The dress in the photos is made of artificial silk. The fabric is medium-weight, pliable, and soft, with a little stretch. The fiber content is 100% polyester. The fabric weight is 205 g/m2.
The lining is 100% polyester. The fabric weight is 80 g/m2.
The additional material is 100% polyester tulle. The fabric weight is 30 g/m2.
The interfacing weight is 50 g/m2.
