Suri dress

Suri is a lined, close-fitting, straight-cut, A-line dress. The front has a narrow extension beneath the bust line, with curved edges toward the side seams. The extension finishes with a loop for the strap. The long strap is threaded through the loop at the center front, criss-crosses at the back, goes through the belt loops, and then ties into a knot at the center back. The dress fastens with an invisible zipper located in the center back seam. Suri is midi-length.

Approximate sewing time: 8 hours

Model Xenia: Bust 86 cm (33 3/4"), Waist 63 cm (24 3/4"), Hips 92 cm (36 1/4"), Height 171 cm (5'7"). Xenia is wearing size 36 in height 2.

To sew this dress, choose suiting and dress-weight fabrics with the following properties:

- medium-weight, pliable, non-stretch or low-stretch, opaque

- the fabric content can include natural (wool, silk, cotton, linen), artificial (viscose), blends (wool + silk, wool + polyester, cotton + viscose, etc.), and synthetic fibers (polyester, polyester + elastane)

- the following fabrics are recommended: suiting wool, gabardine, denim, corduroy, faux leather, suede.

Attention! We do not recommend very stretchy knit materials (jersey fabric) and lightweight sheer fabrics (chiffon, organza, stretch lace).

For the lining, choose lining fabrics made of artificial (viscose), blends (viscose + elastane, viscose + polyester), or synthetic fibers (polyester, polyester + elastane).

The dress in the photo is made of faux leather. This fabric is medium-weight, pliable, and has little stretch. The fiber content is a blend of man-made silk, polyurethane and elastane.

The lining is 100% viscose.

Important! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.

3. Lightweight fusible interfacing (either knit or woven), 140 cm (55") wide, for all sizes in all heights: 0.3 m (3/8 yd)

4. Stitch-reinforced fusible bias stay tape: 1–1.3 m (1 1/8–1 3/8 yd) depending on the size

5. One roll of fusible web tape

6. One roll of 2 cm (3/4") wide adhesive tape for leather

7. One invisible zipper, 20 cm (8") long, for all sizes in all heights

8. Matching thread: 5 spools (one spool for the sewing machine and four spools for the overlocker).

- sewing machine for construction

- overlocker for finishing raw edges. It may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)

- edge-stitching foot for the sewing machine (optional)

- invisible zipper foot for the sewing machine

- walking or ultra-glide (Teflon) foot.
