Velma is a close-fitting midi dress. It is shaped with front and back princess seams and a center back seam. The princess seams feature decorative topstitching. The dress closes with a separating center front zipper. It has long two-piece raglan sleeves, a round neckline, and a turn-down collar.

Model Sofia: Height 172 cm (5’8”), Bust 84 cm (33 1/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Sofia is wearing size 36 in height 3.

Approximate sewing time – 2 days (16 hours).

To sew this dress, choose knit fabrics with the following properties:

- soft, medium-weight, pliable, low-stretch, with medium elasticity

- the fiber content should include elastane or spandex and can also include natural fibers (cotton, wool), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (wool + cotton, cotton + polyester, cotton + elastane, etc.), and synthetics (polyester)

- the following fabrics are recommended: double knits.

Attention! We recommend using only stretchy fabrics for this dress.

The dress in the photos is made of double knit. The fabric is medium-weight, soft, and low-stretch. The fiber content is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. The fabric weight is 350 g/m2.

The interfacing weight is 30 g/m2.

5. Matching thread – 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker).

6. Matching topstitching thread (for example, Madeira No.35) – 2 spools.

- overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. It can be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)

- one-sided foot for the sewing machine to attach the zipper

- stitch-in-the-ditch foot (optional).

Important! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These are ballpoint needles, so they part the threads of the fabric you are stitching rather than piercing them.
