Riko briefs
Riko is a pair of high-rise briefs. The top edge of the briefs sits at the natural waistline. All the raw edges are finished with binding made from the same fabric.
Model Ksenia: Height 171 cm (5'7"), Bust 86 cm (33 7/8”), Waist 63 cm (24 3/4”), Hips 92 cm (36 1/4”). Ksenia is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Approximate sewing time – 0.5 days (4 hours).
To sew these briefs, choose soft, high-stretch, medium- to lightweight knit fabrics made from natural fibers or blends.
The following fabrics are recommended: fine rib knits for underwear, jersey knits. The stretch factor should be 1.5–2.5.
Attention! We recommend using only stretchy fabrics for these briefs.
You can determine the stretch factor of the fabric yourself. Mark 10 cm (4") along the crosswise grain of the fabric, lay a ruler next to the marked section, and stretch the fabric. Divide the measurement you get by 10.
The briefs in the photos are made of fine underwear rib knit. The fabric is soft, medium-weight, with a lot of stretch. The fiber content is 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The fabric weight is 210 g/m². The stretch factor is 2.5.

4. Matching thread – 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker / 3 spools for the coverstitch machine).
- sewing machine for construction
- overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. It can be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- coverstitch or coverlock machine for finishing the garment hem and waistline. If you don’t have a coverstitch machine, it can be replaced with a twin needle on any regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch.
Important! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These are ballpoint needles, so they part the threads of the fabric you are stitching rather than piercing them.
