Erica long sleeve top
Erica is a close-fitting long sleeve top with a one-piece back and front yoke. It has a grown-on asymmetric collar and long, set-in sleeves. Erica is below-hip length.
Approximate sewing time: 2 hours.
Model Sofia: Height 172 cm (5'8"), Bust 84 cm (33 1/8”), Waist 64 cm (25 1/4”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Sofia is wearing size 36 in height 3.
To sew this long sleeve top, choose knit fabrics with the following properties:
- soft, medium-stretch (stretch factor 1.2–1.3), medium-weight
- the fiber content should include elastane or spandex and can also include natural fibers (silk, cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (silk + polyester, cotton + polyester, etc.), and synthetics (polyester, polyamide)
- the following fabrics are recommended: knits, microfiber jersey, double knits.
Attention! We recommend using only stretchy fabrics for this long sleeve top.
You can determine the stretch factor of the fabric yourself. To do so, mark 10 cm (4") along the crosswise grain of the fabric, lay a ruler next to the marked section, and stretch the fabric. Divide the measurement you get by 10.
The long sleeve top in the photos is made of knit fabric. The fabric is medium-weight, soft, and medium-stretch. The fiber content is a blend of wool (97%) and spandex (3%). The fabric weight is 200 g/m2.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
2. Stitched bias-cut fusible stay tape 1–1.5 cm (3/8–5/8") wide, for all sizes in all heights — 15 cm (5 7/8").
3. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker and coverstitch machine).
- sewing machine for construction
- overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- coverstitch or coverlock machine for finishing the garment hem and sleeve hems. If you don’t have a coverstitch machine, it can be replaced with a twin needle on any regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch.
Important! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These are ballpoint needles, so they part the threads of the fabric you are stitching rather than piercing them.
