Lawen long sleeve top
Lawen is a close-fitting long sleeve top. The right shoulder seam features a pleat and gathers, and the left side seam features a pleat and gathers as well. The neckline is finished with a grown-on facing. The long set-in sleeves are close-fitting and gathered at the seam. Lawen is below-waist length.
Model Anastasia: Height 175 cm (5′9″), Bust 83 cm (32 5/8”), Waist 62 cm (24 3/8”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Anastasia is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Approximate sewing time: 1 day (8 hours).
To sew this long sleeve top, choose soft, stretchy and high-stretch knit fabrics (2.0–3.0 stretch factor) made of natural, artificial, blended, or synthetic fibers.
The following fabrics are recommended: modal, microfiber jersey, knits, sweater knits, and viscose knits.
Attention! We recommend using only stretchy fabrics for this long sleeve top.
You can determine the stretch factor of your fabric yourself. Mark 10 cm (4”) along the crosswise grain of the fabric, lay a ruler next to the marked section, and stretch the fabric. Divide the measurement you get by 10.
The long sleeve top in the photo is made of lightweight sweater knit. The fiber content is 95% wool + 5% elastane. The fabric weight is 120 g/m². The stretch factor is 2.0.

5. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker / 3 spools for the coverstitch machine)
− sewing machine for construction
− overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
− coverstitch or coverlock machine for finishing the garment hem and sleeve hems. If you don’t have a coverstitch machine, it can be replaced with a twin needle on any regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch
IMPORTANT! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These have a ballpoint needle tip that parts the knit loops without piercing the threads.
