Neila cardigan
Neila is a semi-fitted cardigan with a straight silhouette. The front wraps over and fastens with long tie belts around the waist. The neckline is a deep V-neck, and the shoulder line is dropped. The long set-in sleeves are semi-fitted at the top and close-fitting at the bottom. Neila is hip-length.
Model Anastasia: Height 175 cm (5′9″), Bust 83 cm (32 5/8”), Waist 62 cm (24 3/8”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Anastasia is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Approximate sewing time: 1 day (8 hours).
To sew this cardigan, choose pliable, soft, medium-weight knit fabrics made of natural, artificial, blended, or synthetic fibers.
The following fabrics are recommended: fine-gauge knits, wide rib knits, and sweater knits.
Attention! We recommend using only stretchy fabrics with a stretch factor of 1.2–1.5 for this cardigan.
You can determine the stretch factor of your fabric yourself. Mark 10 cm (4”) along the crosswise grain of the fabric, lay a ruler next to the marked section, and stretch the fabric. Divide the measurement you get by 10.
The cardigan in the photo is made of lightweight sweater knit. The fiber content is 95% wool + 5% cotton. The fabric weight is 180 g/m². The stretch factor is 1.5.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
4. Clear elastic, 5 mm (1/4”) wide — 1.3–1.4 m (1 3/8–1 1/2 yd)
5. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker)
− sewing machine for construction
− overlocker for finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
− coverstitch machine or coverlock for finishing the garment hem. If you don’t have a coverstitch machine, it can be replaced with a twin needle on any regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch
IMPORTANT! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These have a ballpoint needle tip that parts the knit loops without piercing the threads.
