To sew this jacket, choose knit fabrics with the following properties:

- non-stretch or with very little stretch, medium-weight

- the fiber content can include natural fibers (wool, cotton), artificial fibers (viscose), blends (wool + polyester, cotton + polyester), and synthetics (polyester)

- the following fabrics are recommended: sweatshirt fleece, faux fur with knit backing.

Attention! We do not recommend lightweight knit, stretchy fabrics or material that doesn't hold its shape.

For the lining, choose lining fabrics made of natural fibers (cotton) or artificial fabrics (viscose), jersey knits.

As an additional material for the waistband and cuffs, we recommend using rib knits or ready-made cuffs.

The jacket in the photo is made of sweatshirt fleece. The fabric is soft, with good drape. The fiber content is 65% cotton and 35% polyester. The fabric weight is 330 g/m2.

The cuffs and waistband are made of ribbing. The fabric is soft and medium-stretch. The fiber content is 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The fabric weight is 350 g/m2.

Important! The instructions provide two methods of finishing the garment. Take this into account when determining the fabric requirements. The below mentioned fabric requirements refer to both methods unless otherwise specified.

8. Stitched bias-cut fusible stay tape with stitch reinforcement 1.5 cm (5/8") wide:

8.2. for the unlined option — 1.5 m (1 5/8 yd)

9. Twill tape (for the unlined option), 1.8–2 cm (3/4'') wide — 2 m (2 1/8 yd)

10. Matching thread:

10.1. 1 spool for the fully-lined option

10.2. 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker) for the unlined option.

- sewing machine for construction

- overlocker for finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)

Important! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These are ballpoint needles, so they part the threads of the fabric you are stitching rather than pierce them
