Gita is a pair of loose-fitting pants with a straight silhouette. The grown-on waistband is elasticated. The bottom edges are gathered with elastic. The pants are ankle-length.

Model Diana: Height 172 cm (5′6″), Bust 84 cm (33 1/8”), Waist 61 cm (24”), Hips 89 cm (35”). Diana is wearing size 36 in height 3.

Approximate sewing time – 1 day (4 hours).

To sew these pants, choose sweater knit fabrics (1.2–1.5 stretch factor) that are pliable, soft, medium-weight, made of natural, artificial, blended, or synthetic fibers.

The following fabrics are recommended: French terry, knits, and single jersey.

You can determine the stretch factor of your fabric yourself. Mark 10 cm (4") along the crosswise grain of the fabric, lay a ruler next to the marked section, and stretch the fabric. Divide the measurement you get by 10.

The trousers in the photo are made of soft, pliable knit fabric. The fabric is medium weight, soft, and stretchy. The fiber content is 50% acetate + 28% nylon + 18% polyester. The fabric weight is 260 g/m². The stretch factor is 1.5.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.

2. Elastic, 2.5 cm (1") wide (waist elastic) — 53–83 cm (21–33"), depending on size. The exact elastic length is specified in the pattern.

3. Elastic, 1 cm (3/8”) wide (hem elastic) — 55–65 cm (22–26"), depending on size. The exact elastic length is specified in the pattern.

4. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker)

− sewing machine for construction

− overlocker for construction and finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)

− coverstitch or coverlock machine for finishing the garment hems. If you don’t have a coverstitch machine, it can be replaced with a twin needle on any regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch

− elastic threader (may be replaced with a safety pin)

IMPORTANT! We recommend using specialty needles when working with knit fabrics (for example, STRETCH, SUPER STRETCH, JERSEY, etc.). These have a ballpoint needle tip that parts the loops of the knit fabric while sewing without piercing the threads.
