How to sew a neck facing in a garment with plackets

The new sewing tutorial by Vikisews is already here for you!

1️. Fold the plackets to the wrong side twice, by 1 cm (3/8”) each time, and then once again by 3 cm (1 1/8”). Press in place.

2️. Fold the placket over to the right side. Place the facing piece right side down on top of it, aligning the neckline edges. The facing should overlap the placket by 1 cm (3/8”).

3️. Stitch with a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance. Trim the neckline seam allowance down to 5 mm (just under 1/4”). Clip into the seam allowance all along the neckline.

4️. Turn the seam allowance towards the facing and stitch at 1−2 mm from the seam on the right side of the facing to secure the seam allowance in place.

5️. Turn the placket right side out, push out the corners. Press well.

It looks really neat, doesn’t it?
