This is my second Vickisews pattern, it’s the Deborah blouse and I love it. It’s made in my favourite Lady McElroy Cobra Corsage Marlie lawn and this blush pink shade is so pretty. The fabric is available from Minerva in some colours or direct from Lady McElroy in Blush. I got a 1.1m remnant half price in the Christmas sale and the Deborah can be made from 1.1m if you are not too bothered about pattern matching. I added a couple of inches to the sleeves to cover the chubbiest bit of my arms as the remnant turned out to be about 1.2m. This fabric is the best to work with. Very stable, softer than poplin but firm enough to pleat well and doesn’t fray much. The instructions for the pattern are very thorough and the details, such as the unusual neck shaping and the pleated sleeve heads are really nice. The only thing I didn’t like was the zip instructions. They seem to suggest putting an invisible zip in with an invisible zipper foot, but with a fold of fabric on either side of the zip. My zip jammed and wouldn’t open after doing this and broke as I struggled with it😢. I didn’t make a toile but the Princess seams look like a perfect fit to me. This is a lovely pattern that I will definitely make again. It’s also a great use for a remnant of just over 1m.
Great use of a 1m remnant. Now I want to make the tiered dress version too.
