Wanda dress
Wanda is a close-fitting dress with a boatneck. The front is gathered at the left shoulder seam and features a decorative cutout extending towards the center of the chest. The back has a center seam that ends with a slit. The back neckline is finished with a neckband, while the front bodice is lined to just above the waist. The set-in sleeves are long and close-fitting. Wanda is ankle-length.
Model Liza: Height 175 cm (5’9”), Bust 83 cm (32 5/8”), Waist 62 cm (24 3/8”), Hips 90 cm (35 3/8”). Liza is wearing size 36 in height 3.
Approximate sewing time — 1 day (8 hours).
To sew this dress, choose medium-weight, soft, very stretchy knit fabrics. The stretch factor should be at least 2.0.
You can determine the stretch factor of the fabric yourself. Mark 10 cm (4") along the crosswise grain of the fabric, lay a measuring tape next to the marked section, and stretch the fabric. Divide the measurement you get by 10.
The fiber content should include elastane or spandex and can also include natural fibers, artificial fibers, blends, and synthetics.
The following fabrics are recommended: biflex, sweater knits, double knits, ribbed knits.
Attention! We recommend using only stretchy fabrics for this dress.
The dress in the photo is made of lightweight knit fabric. The fabric is medium weight, soft, and very stretchy. The fiber content is 96% polyester and 4% spandex. The fabric weight is 190 g/m2.

IMPORTANT! When purchasing fabric, please account for shrinkage and buy 5% more than required.
2. Lightweight knit interfacing, 30 g/m2 — a rectangular piece of 2 cm×5 cm (3/4"×2")
3. Stitched bias-cut fusible stay tape with stitch reinforcement, 1.5 cm (5/8") wide — 1.07–1.16 m (1 1/8–1 1/4 yd)
4. Matching thread — 5 spools (1 spool for the sewing machine + 4 spools for the overlocker)
- sewing machine for construction
- overlocker for finishing raw edges. This may be replaced with a stretch overlock stitch or a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine (overlock or zigzag stitch width 2–3 mm, stitch length 2.5 mm)
- stitch-in-the-ditch foot for the sewing machine (optional)
- coverstitch or coverlock machine for finishing the garment hem and sleeve hems. If you don’t have a coverstitch machine, it may be replaced with a twin needle on any regular sewing machine that can do a zigzag stitch
