How to sew a cute spa headband? A must-have for your skincare routine.
Cutting instructions
All pieces are rectangles, dimensions inclusive of seam allowances:
- Main band: 15 × 105 cm (5 7/8 × 41 3/8")
- Bow, cut 2: 20 × 12 cm (7 7/8 × 4 3/4") each
- Bow center: 6 × 12 cm (2 3/8 × 3/4")
Sewing Instructions
- Fold the main band piece right sides together and stitch along the long side with a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance. Press seam allowances open and turn the piece right side out.
- Align the seam at the center and pin in place. Stitch in the ditch of the seam across its length, stopping 2 cm short of one edge to form two casings.
- Cut two pieces of elastic, comfortable for head size, each 2.5 cm (1”) wide. Add seam allowances to the length. Thread the elastic through the casings using a safety pin, and secure with straight stitches at both ends.
- Fold the bow center piece right sides together, stitch along the long side with a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance, trim the seam allowances to reduce the bulk, and turn the piece right side out. Align the ends and stitch them together on a sewing machine.
- Slip the bow center over the band, slightly offset from the edges.
- Overlap one end of the band over the other by 1.5−2 cm (5/8−3/4”) to form a ring, and secure with a straight stitch.
- Place the bow pieces right sides together and stitch with a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance, leaving a small opening along one of the long edges in the center for turning.
- Trim the seam allowances at the corners, turn the piece right side out, push out the corners, and stitch the opening closed with invisible hand stitches.
- Form pleats in the center. Place the band center piece over the band seam and insert the bow into the loop.
