How to sew a cute spa headband? A must-have for your skincare routine.

Cutting instructions

All pieces are rectangles, dimensions inclusive of seam allowances:

  • Main band: 15 × 105 cm (5 7/8 × 41 3/8")
  • Bow, cut 2: 20 × 12 cm (7 7/8 × 4 3/4") each
  • Bow center: 6 × 12 cm (2 3/8 × 3/4")

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fold the main band piece right sides together and stitch along the long side with a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance. Press seam allowances open and turn the piece right side out.
  2. Align the seam at the center and pin in place. Stitch in the ditch of the seam across its length, stopping 2 cm short of one edge to form two casings.
  3. Cut two pieces of elastic, comfortable for head size, each 2.5 cm (1”) wide. Add seam allowances to the length. Thread the elastic through the casings using a safety pin, and secure with straight stitches at both ends.
  4. Fold the bow center piece right sides together, stitch along the long side with a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance, trim the seam allowances to reduce the bulk, and turn the piece right side out. Align the ends and stitch them together on a sewing machine.
  5. Slip the bow center over the band, slightly offset from the edges.
  6. Overlap one end of the band over the other by 1.5−2 cm (5/8−3/4”) to form a ring, and secure with a straight stitch.
  7. Place the bow pieces right sides together and stitch with a 1 cm (3/8”) seam allowance, leaving a small opening along one of the long edges in the center for turning.
  8. Trim the seam allowances at the corners, turn the piece right side out, push out the corners, and stitch the opening closed with invisible hand stitches.
  9. Form pleats in the center. Place the band center piece over the band seam and insert the bow into the loop.
